Friday, July 15, Nautical Mile Park,
DANCE, DANCE, DANCE!

Whether it's sock hop memorabilia, or jitterbug jiving,
there's got to be something you'll love to dance,
or just listen to, this evening.

The Bel Airs 50's & 60's Band
on stage from 6 to 8

The Bel Airs are masters of a very long play list
of all the great tunes of the golden age of rock.
For some it will be memory lane time.
For the younger set a super chance to hear what
grandpa thought was "groovy".
These musicians love the era and its music and do
a superb job of recreating both.

The Ambassadors Swing Band
on stage from 9 to 11

Conductor Michael Letovsky leads this 17 piece
traditional dance band through all the great big band
music of the twentieth century.  From Kenton to Dorsey,
Miller and Ellington, this band plays them all with
consummate skill and polish.

The Bel Airs 50's & 60's Band.
The Bel Airs and the Ambassadors are funded in part by grants from the Michigan Council for the Humanities.

Major William O'Donnell.  They are primarily
a teaching band with all their members
having begun as pipe students of Mr. O'Donnell
in the Troy School District.
They wear the MacDonnell of Keppoch tartan.

Equinox Celtic Band
www.equinoxtheband.net
The six members of Equinox come from the
Saginaw, Bay City and thumb regions of south
east Michigan. They all sing and play a wide variety
of traditional instruments like bagpipe, Celtic
percussion instruments, whistles, fiddles
and guitars.  They have incredible energy
and more than a wee bit of Irish charm.

Monsieur Guillaume and His
Zydeco Hepcats

Guillaume Gautreaux can trace his ancestry back
to Alsace, France and Acadia, Canada on to Cajun
Louisiana.  This 6 member band performs on accordion,
guitars, bass, drums, and frottoir (washboard).
Expect a lot of energy and copious hot sauce.

Los Bandits de Michigan

Los Bandits de Michigan
www.losbanditsdemichigan.com
The Bandits have performed all over the
United States from Washington state to
Florida, Chicago to Nashville.  They reside
in south west Michigan in and around Plainville.
They have just finished their fourth CD and will
be selling it, and their other recordings, during
their appearance in Marine City.  Critics are quick
to emphasize that the Bandits are a superior
Tex-Mex style band but also stress that the Bandits
are much more than just a Tex-Mex band.
Prepare yourself for some exquisite musicianship
and a joyous performance.

HEADLINERS

The Howling Diablos
www.howlingdiablos.com
The Diablos have been together since the 1990's.
They are a beloved and admired Detroit musical
institution and a big favorite of Marine City.
We thought they were going to blow the tent
down in '09. They don't represent a specific
ethnic group with their music so much as
a uniquely American amalgamation of ethnic
influences like blues, funk, rock, and jam.
What ever it takes to get an entire
audience up and dancing, they've got it.
Don't just take our word for it.
Join us and see for yourself.

Sunday, July 17, Pure Americana

Dodworth Saxhorn Band
www.dodworth.org
The Dodworth Saxhorn Band is a very unique
orchestra.  The instruments they play are all
authentic, nineteenth century instruments, not
reproductions.  In many instances the various
brass horns are no longer manufactured.  Through
painstaking research and sometimes pure luck these
rare originals were found, lovingly restored and
returned to active musical life.  The band specializes
in the music and the history of the nineteenth
century and costume appropriate to mid-century.
They recreate a world that is marching
ever distant from our times and yet is still so
movingly real for Americans.  This spring marks the
150th anniversary of the start of the American Civil
War.  Dodworth Saxhorn will play the music
of the era and present a special commemoration
of that momentous American experience.
