Michigan Scottish Pipes and Drums
www.michiganscottish.org
Hailing from Troy, Michigan, this elegant Scottish
ensemble is under the direction of Pipe
Major William O'Donnell.  They are primarily
a teaching band with all their members
having begun as pipe students of Mr. O'Donnell
in the Troy School District.
They wear the MacDonnell of Keppoch tartan.

Equinox Celtic Band
www.equinoxtheband.net
The six members of Equinox come from the
Saginaw, Bay City and thumb regions of south
east Michigan. They all sing and play a wide variety
of traditional instruments like bagpipe, Celtic
percussion instruments, whistles, fiddles
and guitars.  They have incredible energy
and more than a wee bit of Irish charm.

Monsieur Guillaume and His
Zydeco Hepcats
www.myspace.com/zydecohepcats
Guillaume Gautreaux can trace his ancestry back
to Alsace, France and Acadia, Canada on to Cajun
Louisiana.  This 6 member band performs on
accordion, guitars, bass, drums, and
frottoir (washboard).  Expect a lot of energy
and copious hot sauce.

Los Bandits de Michigan

Los Bandits de Michigan
www.losbanditsdemichigan.com
The Bandits have performed all over the
United States from Washington state to
Florida, Chicago to Nashville.  They reside
in south west Michigan in and around Plainville.
They have just finished their fourth CD and will
be selling it, and their other recordings, during
their appearance in Marine City.  Critics are quick
to emphasize that the Bandits are a superior
Tex-Mex style band but also stress that the Bandits
are much more than just a Tex-Mex band.
Prepare yourself for some exquisite musicianship
and a joyous performance.

HEADLINERS

The Howling Diablos
www.howlingdiablos.com
The Diablos have been together since the 1990's.
They are a beloved and admired Detroit musical
institution and a big favorite of Marine City.
We thought they were going to blow the tent
down in '09. They don't represent a specific
ethnic group with their music so much as
a uniquely American amalgamation of ethnic
influences like blues, funk, rock, and jam.
What ever it takes to get an entire
audience up and dancing, they've got it.
Don't just take our word for it.
Join us and see for yourself.

Sunday, July 17, Pure Americana

The Strathroy Vocal Federation, from Strathroy
Ontario, has been singing in four part harmony since
1995.  They have been devoted to charitable
fund raising, called Harmony for Speech, from the
beginning and have raised 4 million dollars for
equipment for a speech therapy program.  Strathroy
is about 30 miles east of Sarnia.  They have
a full barbershop chorus and a number of
"break-out" quartets that alternate with the full
chorus in performance.  It will be a presentation
full of variety and verve!

The Strathroy Vocal Federation
The Spirit of Detroit Barbershop Chorus
A merger of two Sweet Adelines International
chapters in 1986 created Spirit of Detroit.
They have consistently taken first or second place
in regional competition ever since and reached
the top ten in national competition in 2003.  They
are under the direction of LeAnn Hazlett.

The Dodworth Saxhorn performance has
been paid for, in part, by a grant from
the Michigan Council for the Humanities.

The Dodworth Saxhorn Band
is a very unique musical
group.  Dodworth Saxhorn plays authentic 19th century
instruments that have been acquired piece by piece and
lovingly restored.  This devotion to authenticity extends
to costume as well.  Band members dress in modern
replicas of 19th century style clothing.  As you may
very well expect, they do not play 21st century music
but concentrate instead on music of the 19th century.
The sesquicentennial (150) of the start of the American
Civil War begins in April, 2011.  Dodworth Saxhorn will
commemorate this anniversary with a musical tribute
composed of music from the Civil War period.
